While men see PE as cause of low self-esteem and masculinity women find PE as less of a problem
The treatment of PE requires the participation of both patient and his partner. It is essential to educate both patient and his partner on the risks and benefits of the treatment available. The support and the understanding provided by the partner are essential to enable the patient to achieve the level of relaxation required for sexual satisfaction. Both the male and his partner should communicate their feelings openly and sensitively. The male should learn to sexually satisfy his partner by other means, while they work together to overcome his premature ejaculation.
The male`s partner can get involved in the exercises. They can stimulate the partner using the
stop-start technique. The purpose is to get the male accustomed to maintaining an erection for an extended period of time while gradually increasing sexual tolerance. In this technique the patient is stimulated and stopped at the point were he is about to ejaculate. This process should be repeated about ten times. The male might be able to overcome his premature ejaculation by exercising with his partner, if the case is not severe.
As PE not only causes negative impact on the patient himself but also causes distress and interpersonal difficulty to his partner it is essential on the part of the patient to consult a physician and take appropriate therapy.
