In the July 2007 publication of,
The journal of sexual medicine, Waldinger MD et al reviewed their study on the preferences of treatment for males who are suffering from premature ejaculation. A questionnaire was created for 88 Dutch men ranging in age from 18-24 who have suffered from premature ejaculation ( PE ) for their entire lives. The men were asked if they prefer to use a topical crème, a drug that must be used on demand, or a daily drug. They were also questioned about how they felt about the usage of SSRIs anti depressants which are most commonly used to treat premature ejaculation ( PE )
81% of the men surveyed preferred a drug for daily use, 14% preferred a drug on demand and 3 men preferred a topical crème. All of the men who preferred a drug for daily use did not change their mind after being told additional information about the side effects related to taking a daily pill. The authors concluded that men prefer to take a daily pill because it does not interfere with the spontaneity of sexual intercourse.
