The Urologic Clinics of North America published some interesting information about a₁ Andrenoceptor Antagonists and their efficacy in the treatment of premature ejaculation.
Marcel D. Waldinger MD, PhD covered the story in the November 2007 edition.
Ejaculation is partly controlled by the sympathetic nervous system.
Blocking this system with a₁ Andrenoceptor Antagonists may be a way to delay ejaculation and be effective in treating premature ejaculation in patients.
Terazosin and alfuzos are selective a₁ blockers which have been shown to delay ejaculation in clinical studies.
The studies which tested these medications have been criticized as having weak methodology.
Further studies need to be conducted to prove the level of efficacy of these medications.
