In the October 2007 edition of Urology, Catherine A. Thomas studies the effectiveness of a concentrated extract of Hypericum perforatum in anesthetized rats.
The purpose of the study was to find out if this component could one day be effective in treating premature ejaculation in people.
The study focused on the assessment of the rats BS muscle contractions.
This activity is very significant.
BS contractions are the main factor in the act of the eruption of semen from the penis.
Measuring these contractions and the changes which occur when drugs are introduced, could be the key to finding an effective treatment for PE.
