Intravaginal ejaculation latency times, IELT is a common factor doctors measure when trying to diagnose premature ejaculation in their patents.
These times are often calculated by the female partner of the patient with a stopwatch.
These times are always used when testing the efficacy of certain medical treatments for premature ejaculation. Marcel D. Waldinger PhD reviews the calculations involving these IELT times in the December 2007 publication of the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
Waldinger points out the importance of calculating both the geometric mean IELT times and the mean IELT times.
These two separate calculations need to be linked.
To accurately
conclude the efficacy of different medications in clinical trials, both types of calculations are essential and need to be included in the trial.
