According to the May 2007 epublication of
BJU International, SR Hosseini examined whether or not constriction rings were an effective treatment for premature ejaculation ( PE ). There were 42 men who participated in the study from September 2003 to October 2006. These men had an intravaginal ejaculatory latency time ( IELT ) of < 1 minute.
Over a four week period of time, the researchers gathered information as the men used the ring during intercourse. The mean IELT before using the ring was 42 seconds and after using the ring it was 46 seconds. Although there were no major complications from using the constriction ring noted, Hosseini concluded that using a constriction ring is not an effective treatment for premature ejaculation ( PE ) .
