When pharmacists are working with patients who may be affected by premature ejaculation (PE), the counseling process may be more challenging. Patients are concerned about privacy, yet it is important for the patient to be fully educated about potential side effects. Physicians do not always have the amount of time needed to adequately explain pharmacological effects of a particular medication.
Pharmacists should not only concentrate on potential side effects of a medication for premature ejaculation (PE), but should try to explain the benefits to taking medication as prescribed. Managing patient expectations is also a key role that pharmacists can play during the counseling process. With a condition as widespread as premature ejaculation (PE), the number of men who are seeking treatment is increasing, as is the need for correct patient education.
