Criticizing premature ejaculation

Updated Jan 13, 2008 at 5:21 EST.

There are many people opposed to the idea of labeling premature ejaculation ( PE ) as a disease.   Many PE critics feel the PE hype is fueled by a massive marketing strategy created by Pharmaceutical companies.   In the September 2007 edition of the Canadian Medical Journal Alan Cassels BA MPA, reviewed this debate.   Cassels focused on the marketing aspect of the industry and the financial goals of the pharmaceutical companies.

When treatments are finally approved by the FDA, there will be a big pay off to pharmaceutical companies such as Johnson and Johnson who are developing one of the leading treatments for premature ejaculation, Dapoxetine ( Prilogy™ ).   But also men across the states will have many more options available to treat their PE.    Is this wrong?   With PE affecting an average of 30%-40% of males, shouldn’t there be an approved treatment for the condition?
