In volume 47 of the
Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, published in March 2007, NB Modi, et. al. discussed findings relating to alcohol consumption and dapoxetine, the medication touted as a possible treatment for premature ejaculation ( PE ). The study used 24 healthy male volunteers in order to determine if ethanol had a mitigating effect when using dapoxetine.
The study demonstrated that dapoxetine is still readily absorbed when given at the same time as ethanol. In addition, no additional cognitive impairments were reported by the study’s authors. In other words, men with premature ejaculation ( PE ) who use dapoxetine and also consume alcohol are not risk of the medication not working or significant impairment as a result of the pairing of the two.
