Dapoxetine (priligy TM) Shows Promise in Treating Premature Ejaculation

Updated Jan 31, 2007 at 14:47 EST.

Two large clinical trials demonstrate that dapoxetine ( Priligy TM ), the first medication designed specifically to treat premature ejaculation, has potential to provide relief to more than 30% of men who suffer with the condition. The trials examined results from more than 2,600 men who reported moderate to severe premature ejaculation.

On-demand dosing of dapoxetine increased ejaculation latency time from the pre-study time of approximately one minute to just over three minutes. Despite the side effects, researchers believe the medication shows promise. The lead researcher, Dr. Jon Pryor noted in a press release, “Dapoxetine ( Priligy TM ) also improved patients’ perceptions of control over ejaculation, satisfaction with sexual intercourse, and overall impression of change in condition.”
