Drug induced ejaculatory performance when testing for premature ejaculation

Updated Jan 10, 2008 at 2:33 EST.

When testing new medications for the treatment of premature ejaculation, drug induced ejaculatory performance can create a skewed IELT allocation.   Intravaginal ejaculation latency times, IELT is a common factor doctors measure when trying to diagnose premature ejaculation in their patents.   IELT times are also used when testing the efficacy of premature ejaculation treatments.   Often times these measurements become inaccurate because they are not calculated correctly in clinical trials.

Marcel D. Waldinger Phd reviews this phenomenon in the December 2007 edition of the Journal of Sexual Medicine.   Often times the drug induced ejaculation delay is overestimated in testing because the mean calculations were not executed correctly.
