Marcel D. Waldinger published an article recently on premature ejaculation medications in the November 2007 issue of the Urologic Clinics of North America.
He makes some interesting points about the differences between generic and brand name SSRI medications.
One medication which has proven to effectively treat PE when taken daily is paroxetine hydrochloride hemihydrate.
The generic version of paroxetine hydrochloride hemihydrate has not undergone any clinical testing to prove it’s efficacy to treat PE.
Waldinger notes in his article that the generic version of the drug has not been tested to treat PE, but there has been nothing written about the difference between the generic and name brand. There are no objective medical contra dictations to try to use the generic version to treat PE as well.
