IELT times (intravaginal, ejaculatory, latency, times) are often used to diagnose premature ejaculation in patients.
These times are also used during clinical testing of premature ejaculation treatments.
Martin J. Steggall, MSc, RN wrote an interesting article in 2006 in, The journal of Men’s Health and Gender.
He criticizes diagnosis techniques such as the sole use of IELT times for evaluation of premature ejaculation.
His point is especially relevant now as many premature ejaculation treatments are coming on to the market and many men will be considering intake. Measuring IELT is not bad way to evaluate premature ejaculation, but patients also need to keep in mind many other factors involving sexual experience, for instance, personal satisfaction and partner satisfaction.
