According to Vectura’s website, one of the newest possible drugs for premature ejaculation ( PE )
is VR776. It works as a dry powder inhaled medication to get it into the blood stream quicker. Though the drug is still in the development stage, it has already completed the first two sets of clinical trials. Vectura estimates that approximately 50 million men are affected by premature ejaculation ( PE ) at any given time.
The drug works by affecting the neurotransmitter serotonin ( 5-HT ) – the neurotransmitter most commonly identified as affecting premature ejaculation. A second step in stage II testing of VR776 started in 2006 and is continuing today. The studies hope to identify the maximum dosage needed to produce results that are safe, reliable, and replicable from one group of men to another.
