In volume 13 of the June 2007 publication of
Zhonghua Nan Ke Xue (published in Chinese), YC Oiu et. al. investigated the link between chronic prostatitis and its effect on premature ejaculation ( PE ), as well as erectile dysfunction. The study looked at 623 men with chronic prostatitis and reviewed their scores on a series of scales designed to determine if premature ejaculation ( PE ) or erectile dysfunction were present and to what degree.
The study indicated that while premature ejaculation ( PE ) did occur in men with chronic prostatitis, the incidence was relatively low (39%). Most men reported mild occurrence (26.2%), although 12% of men reported moderate premature ejaculation ( PE ). In addition, most men reporting premature ejaculation were younger, with the highest occurrence in the 18-30 year-old bracket (42.9%). The study also revealed slight issues with erectile dysfunction, and rates lower than that of premature ejaculation ( PE ). While the study seems to support previous investigations into this link, it is still too soon to determine how severe premature ejaculation ( PE ) can be when it occurs with chronic prostatitis.
