According to Volume 4i of the
Journal of Sexual Medicine published in July 2007 by MD Waldinger, et al indicates that men with chronic, lifelong premature ejaculation ( PE ) prefer taking medication on a daily basis instead of on-demand. Until recently, determining the preferences of men with premature ejaculation ( PE ) with regard to taking medication had not been studied. The study also determined that men preferred daily medication instead of using a topical ointment.
The study examined 88 men with lifelong premature ejaculation and their treatment preferences. None of the men had ever sought treatment for premature ejaculation ( PE ). An overwhelming 81% of men (71) preferred daily treatment, while 16% (14) preferred on-demand dosing. Only 3 of the men queried preferred topical ointments. The men also reviewed safety and efficacy information of on-demand dosing, leading to 9 of the 17 men changing their mind to prefer daily dosing for premature ejaculation ( PE ). The primary reason cited for changing preferences seemed to be that daily dosing would not interfere with spontaneous intimacy.
