Online Sexual Therapy for Premature Ejaculation ( PE )

Updated Apr 19, 2007 at 2:0 EST.

In volume 33 of the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy published in March 2007, SL Van Diest et. al. discuss findings from a short-term online study to determine if men could benefit from sexual therapy delivered via the Internet. Thirty-nine men with either erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation ( PE ) participated in the study. It lasted three months and therapy was delivered exclusively through email interaction with the client.

The study had a high drop-out rate of 46%. Of the men who remained in the study 14 (67%) indicated that they did have some improvement in sexual satisfaction as a result of the project. Even more importantly, 7 of the 14 (47%) indicated that the improvements in sexual functioning had lasted at least one month after the study ended. Eight (53%) of the men did not demonstrated noticeable improvement. There could be some viable benefit from sexual therapy for premature ejaculation delivered via the Internet, yet more study is needed to make a reliable determination.
