According to Issue 19 of the
Newsbulletin published by the International Society for Sexual Medicine published in April 2006, some men who take antidepressant medications for treating premature ejaculation ( PE ) may suffer from an abstinence or withdrawal syndrome. While antidepressants themselves are not addictive, neurotransmitters are affected by taking them. As a result, men who stop taking them may experience a variety of issues including dizziness, nausea, slight tremors, diarrhea, and even flu-like symptoms.
The individual may have to resume taking the antidepressants for a short period of time and then titrate the dosage to progressively lower and lower amounts until the withdrawal syndrome no longer causes a concern.
