Premature ejaculation ( PE ) and its connection to dopamine release in the brain

Updated Oct 30, 2007 at 5:37 EST.

The September 1, 2007 publication of  Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, Peeters and Giuliano published some interesting findings about the relationship between brain mechanisms mediated by Dopamine and premature ejaculation ( PE ).   A group of neurons found in the spinal cord has been suggested to be related to the ejaculation process.

The activation of areas of the brain by dopamine ( DA ) is being suggested to facilitate ejaculation.    Understanding this complex relationship between ( DA ) and ejaculation, could be a crucial factor in understanding why rapid ejaculation occurs.   These findings are so significant because they can provide new directions for pharmaceutical groups looking for ways to treat premature ejaculation ( PE ).
