Bartoletti R reviewed an interesting study in the December 2007 issue of
The Journal of Urology.
A multicenter case-control observational study was conducted with urological hospital outpatients in Italy.
Patients from 28 urological centers in Italy between the ages of 25 and 50 years old who suffered prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome participated.
The participants went through different symptom scorings, clinical evaluation and microbiological tests.
The results showed that the symptoms of this disease had a negative effect on sexual desire.
Premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction were common complaints among men.
The conductors of the study realized that the disease is very closely related to diet, smoking, lifestyle,
gastrointestinal or anorectal disease and impaired sexual function such as premature ejaculation ( PE ).
