Marcel D. Waldinger explores the different types of on demand, topical treatments to treat premature ejaculation in his article in the November 2007 issue of the Urologic Clinics of North America.
Common treatments used are usually lidocaine and/or prilocaine and can come in a cream.
A popular one today which has shown efficacy is ss cream.
There is also a gel form and a spray.
Although these medicines are effective on many people, some patients may have difficulties using the treatments.
The reason for this is because these treatments work by numbing the penis, decreasing sensitivity to the glans penis which in turn works to delay ejaculation resolving PE problems.
This is the positive effect, but many patients also complained that the “numbing effect” was overpowering and it instead lead to erectile dysfunction ( ED )
Also the topical agents can effect the partner and also cause her to have numbness in her vagina.
