In the June 14, 2007 epublication of the
International Journal of Impotence Research, T Symonds, et. al. reviewed additional research for the Premature Ejaculation ( PE ) Diagnostic Tool. This tool contains five items and was designed to be used as a quick method for physicians to help diagnose premature ejaculation ( PE ). The tool uses criteria in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders ( DSM-IV-R ) as a basis for its definition.
Seven experts in premature ejaculation ( PE ) interviewed men with and without premature ejaculation ( PE ) after they answered the five items in the screening tool. The purpose of the interview was to determine if the tool could accurately detect the presence of premature ejaculation ( PE ). In addition, men with premature ejaculation ( PE ) retook the survey two weeks later in order to determine if the test-retest reliability of the tool could be determined. The study concluded by determining that both the reliability and the validity of the tool was sufficient for the survey to be used by clinicians in the field.
