In the 51st volume of
European Urology published in March 2007, H Porst, et. al. discussed whether or not males with premature ejaculation ( PE )
are more likely to seek professional assistance for the condition. Premature ejaculation ( PE )
is the most common male sexual disorder, affecting as much as 30% of men.
The study used the Premature Ejaculation ( PE ) Prevalence and Attitudes (PEPA) Survey to identify men who may have premature or rapid ejaculation. More than 12,000 men completed the survey with 22.7 % reporting issues relating to premature ejaculation ( PE ). Of the men who reported issues with rapid ejaculation, only 9% of them had sought professional medical opinions. Other men were more likely to try to correct the issue at home through a variety of techniques such as change in sexual positioning, interruption in stimulation, masturbation, and frequent intercourse. Despite increased research into medical treatments, men are still less likely to seek medical attention for this sensitive issue.
