Sex Therapy Plays Important Role in Treating Premature Ejaculation ( PE )

Updated Mar 3, 2007 at 22:28 EST.

In Supplement 4 of the Journal of Sexual Medicine published in September 2006, Stanley Althof reports on findings State of the Art Conference on Premature Ejaculation ( PE ) in 2005. Professionals at the conference reviewed peer-based research on premature ejaculation ( PE ) in order to determine the psychological influence and self-esteem issues of men with premature ejaculation.

Those attending the conference noted an unwillingness to treat premature ejaculation ( PE ) with the same seriousness as erectile dysfunction, preferring instead to use sex therapy for the condition. Sex therapy can be used effectively in combination with pharmacological interventions. Most professionals view premature ejaculation ( PE ) as a learned behavior rather than as a medical condition with specific treatment alternatives. In light of this finding, most therapists conclude that sex therapy plays an important role in treating premature ejaculation ( PE ) and improving outcomes for those with the condition.
