New Spray Treatment for Premature Ejaculation (PE)

Updated Feb 1, 2007 at 3:18 EST.

An alternative to messy ointments and creams, researchers have developed a spray to treat premature ejaculation (PE). Researchers in the Netherlands and United Kingdom (UK) named the spray treatment TEMPE (Topical Eutectic Mixture for Premature Ejaculation). Active ingredients are 22.5mg of lidocaine and 7.5mg of prilocaine in a total of three metered sprays.

Men who used the TEMPE spray reported delayed ejaculation by up to five times longer than men in the study who used a control spray. The spray is administered approximately 15 minutes before intercourse. The study reported that “Overall, the TEMPE spray was 2.4 times more effective than the placebo.”
