In the January 31, 2007 volume of the International Urology and Nephrology journal, Athanasios, Polyanthi, and George studied the effect of the Duloxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRIs) in effectively treating ejaculation. There have been other SSRIs have been studied as a means of treating premature ( PE ) or rapid ejaculation, with some more successful than others. This Greek-based study looked at 20 married men who had previously reported premature ejaculation ( PE ).
When compared to a placebo, 80% of men in the group that took Duloxetine either reported that their condition was “very much improved” or “much improved.” Only 10% of men in the placebo group reported improved conditions. The study used intravaginal ejaculatory latency time and a self-report tool called the Clinical Global Impression Improvement scale (CGI-I). In order to be effective in treating premature ejaculation ( PE ), Duloxetine was taken on a chronic, every day basis, rather than as needed.
