Variables Related to Premature Ejaculation ( PE )Updated Apr 14, 2007 at 10:55 EST.
In the April 6, 2007 epublication of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, DL Patrick, D Rowland, and M Rothman sought to determine the degree to which variables of premature ejaculation ( PE ) are related to one another. Variables identified included: intravaginal ejaculatory latency time ( IELT ), sexual satisfaction, perceived control over ejaculation, and personal distress and interpersonal difficulties. While various studies have pointed to these variables when considering premature ejaculation ( PE ) diagnosis, no study to date has studied how they may be related to one another.
Results from a previously reported observational study were analyzed with respect to each of the factors mentioned above. When the results were reviewed, IELT was primarily related to perceived control over ejaculation, yet it did not appear to be related to personal distress or interpersonal difficulties.
Perceived control over ejaculation was most significantly related to personal distress and reported sexual satisfaction. It appears that studying perceived control over ejaculation is a key to understating psychological factors in premature ejaculation ( PE ) . Written by the PEhomepage.com Editorial Team.
