No drugs are currently approved for treatment of premature ejaculation. New studies, published in the September 9th volume of The Lancet by J L Pryor et al. found that dapoxetine, a short acting SSRI, is an effective an generally well tolerated treatment for men with Premature Ejaculation. These studies were conducted in 121
US clinics with over 2600 patients enrolled. The studies found that dapoxetine significantly prolong ejaculatory latency time (the time from vaginal penetration to ejaculation) from the first dose taken. Dapoxetine also improved patient’s control over ejaculation and satisfaction with sexual intercourse. The most common side effects reported with dapoxetine treatment were nausea, diarrhea, headache and dizziness.
